Thomas J. Hampton Jr., 83, of Evansville, IN, passed away on January 19, 2022. He was born on December 18, 1938, in Henderson, Kentucky, to Thomas Sr. and Evalena (Pirtle) Hampton.
Tom was a devoted husband for over 40 years, as well as a great father to his children. Over the years, Tom had many jobs. He worked at Evansville’s Courier & Press, Bootz Mfg., Karges Brother’s Furniture, and eventually retired from Epi-Hab Enterprises. Like his dad, he worked with his hands as a carpenter, creating many beautiful things. Tom also very proud of his life’s project, his Studebaker truck. He loved his family and enjoyed the time he spent with them making memories.
Tom is preceded in death by his late wife, Helen B. (Merritt) Hampton; his son, Kevin Newcom; and his siblings.
Tom is survived by his son, Mark (Lori) Hampton; his grandchildren, Brittany (John) Burriss, Rocky (Tommi) Burriss, Andy (Jennifer) Burriss, and Aaron Hampton; his great-grandchildren Karma Liberman, Braydin Burriss, Trinity Mayse, Zayden Williams, Kaydence Williams, Haylee Burriss, Jasper Burriss, Keith Burriss, Chauna Thompson, Ashlynn Thompson, and McKenzi (Michael) Welborn; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and his faithful cat, Alvin.
Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, from 5:00PM until 7:00PM. There will be an hour of visitation on Thursday, January 27, 2022, from 10:00AM until the service begins at 11:00am. Graveside services will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
