Clarice “Ruth” Maglinger, 94, passed away on October 15, 2021. She was born in Celina, Tennessee on November 22, 1926 to Clint Lionberger and Alice Lingafelter.

Ruth was the epitome of gracious hosting. You could show up without notice and she’d open her kitchen to you, and you would leave with a full belly. Ruth was a loving mother and grandmother, who could do anything she set her mind to. Whether it be learning to skateboard in her 50s, learning the ins and outs of Facebook and Zoom to keep in contact with her loved ones, or helping to reroof a home or pouring concrete. She was not afraid of getting her hands dirty or of learning new skills.

Ruth graduated Salutatorian from high school, and then she worked as a secretary for Kenrad in Owensboro Kentucky before becoming the office manager for her and her husband’s business Maglinger Prints, where she took great pride in her bookkeeping abilities. She was the Worthy High Priestess for the Order of Eastern Star in Owensboro in 1963. Ruth was a very strong and independent woman while also being gracious, loving, and supportive; a wonderful person all around.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Stan Maglinger, and Paul (Jenny) Maglinger; her grandchildren, Brad (Meredith) Maglinger, Jennifer (Kevin) Banning, Jessica (Adam) Will, Sy Dym (Jasper Lord); her great-grandchildren, Alexis, Isaac, Isabella and Emma as well as multiple nieces and nephews.

Ruth is preceded in death by father Clint Lionberger, her mother Alice (Lingafelter) Lionberger,  her husband, Calvin Maglinger; her infant son, Phillip Irwin Maglinger, her sister Betty Rose, brother Larry, sister Marguerite, brother Max, and a daughter-in-law Cathy.

Sunset Funeral Home will be holding services for Ruth on Thursday, October 21. Visitation will begin at 10:00 and the Memorial Service will take place at 12:00.  The service will be live streamed for those not able to attend, call the funeral home for details.  In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to The American Heart Association.
