Charles Albert Darnell Jr., 80, passed away on August 20, 2019. He was born on April 20, 1939 to Celia and Charles Darnell Sr. in Evansville, Indiana.

Chuck was a proud sailor in the United States Navy. After his service in the military, Chuck was a beer truck driver for several years. Chuck loved fishing, especially at Kentucky Lake. His favorite thing would be relaxing outside with a bobber in the lake. He also enjoyed playing golf. He would play often at Breckenridge Country Club and won several trophies. Chuck was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching any and every sport. He also enjoyed watching old western movies. Chuck made it his mission in life to make everyone laugh. Chuck was also a lifelong member of VFW Post 2953 and the AMVETS.

Chuck is survived by his daughters Kari (Patrick Sr.) Grisham, Kathi (Briane) Moore, Kristi Darnell, and Michel Ann (Charles) Crawford; his grandchildren Heather (Sean) Cozart-Bey, Jeremy Moore, Maria (Gavin) Brothers, Lyndy (Mike) Bryan, Nikki Conner, Cody (Shannon) Crawford, Tyler (Mackenzie) Crawford, Brittney (Radd) Skelton, Patrick (Elizabeth) Grisham Jr., Alex Darnell, and Derek Schaefer; his 19 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his very best friend from elementary school Jerry Nichols.

Chuck was preceded in death by his granddaughter Bessie Coffman; his wife Anita Darnell; his parents; and his 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 28th at Sunset Funeral Home with a burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park with military honors.

The family would love to thank the hospice nurses and staff at Linda E White Hospice for all of their care and support and a special thanks to hospice nurse Heather.
