    This man was like family to me for my entire 33 years of life. He was always known as uncle bubba. I will miss you so much. You was hands down the nicest guy I’d ever been around. I love you uncle bubba.

Ronald (Ron) Nelson Cherry, 78, passed away on June 25, 2020. He was born on May 31, 1942 to Nelson Cherry and Willie Shanks in Cadiz, Kentucky.

Ron was a very kind and compassionate man. He worked as a car detailer owning his own business called Car Cosmetics for over 30 years. He had a passion for hotrods and always went to the frog follies. Ron was very handy and could fix anything. He loved to build motorcycles. Above all else, Ron loved spending time with his family and loved his children with all his heart.

Ron is survived by his children Lexus Cherry (Damian Schaefer), Camry Cherry (Voldie Mayes), Kristin Alvey (Josh Wichser), Dylan Combs, and Rylee Southers; his grandson Tyler Lay; his siblings Hopson Cherry (Janet), Betty Barclay (Ronald), Wanda Montgomery (John), Phyllis Shanks, Jackie Case (Larry), and Brenda Cherry; his sister-in-law Lueas Shanks; his pets Brutus, Diamond, Batman, and Adalyn; children Elizabeth Cherry, Karen Vincent (Scott), John Cherry, and Cassie Stoops; a host of nieces, nephews, and grandkids.

Ron was preceded in death by his mother Willie; his father Nelson; his brother Charles Shanks; his wife Kristi Cherry; and his son Gray Combs.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 12 p.m. Wednesday, July 1st at Sunset Funeral Home with a burial to directly follow at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make donations towards Ron’s funeral expenses.
