Robert L. Dye Jr. passed away April 19, 2018 in Mt. Vernon, IN.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Mary, his two sons, Joshua (Maggie) and Wayne, two grandchildren, and his brother David (Martha).

Robert served in the Navy during The Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1976. He served his first tour as a gunners mate on the USS Independence and his second tour as an electrician on The USS Manley.  He earned degrees in Interior Design from Indiana Vocational Technical College and Elementary Education from Indiana State University Evansville.  In Robert’s 20+ year career with Donut Bank he served in management as a baker.

Robert was interested in classic cars, his pride and joy a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle “The Blue Goose”. He was an avid follower of pro sports including the NFL, NASCAR, and wrestling; along with a strong love for his pets and Clive Cussler novels.

He always “did what he could, sometimes what he couldn’t.” He will he missed.

Visitation and services will be held at Sunset Funeral Home, 1800 St George Rd, Evansville, IN, 47711 on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. Visitation begins at 10:00 A.M. and the service begins at 12:30 P.M.
