On Thursday September 1st, 2022, Opal “Chris” Pruitt, passed away. Opal was born on December 22nd, 1937, in Central City, KY, to Ecles and Flora (Dame) Alvey.

Opal lived a full life surrounded by her loving family. She was well known for her passion for mystery novels and cooking a great meal. Opal enjoyed spending her time in her garden and was a dedicated member of the Church of the Cross.

Opal is survived by a daughter, Debra Dill; son, Don (Saundra) Dill; daughter, LaChelle Dill; son, Randy (Julie) Dill; son, Bret (Susie) Dill; siblings, Agnes Mooney, Daisey (Ron) Lindsey, Richard (Kathy) Alvey, Doris Powell, Joan Arnold, and Bettye (Glendal) Smith; as well as nineteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.  Opal is also survived by daughter n law Monika Dill.

Along with her parents, Opal is preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Jim Pruitt; her sons, Tony Dill and Jeff Hicks; and her siblings, Donny Doss, Sheila Newman, and Jean Thene.

Services will be privately held at Sunset Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations made to the Vanderburgh Humane Society or the Wounded Warriors Project.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Heritage Nursing Home and Kindred Hospice nurses, and to her granddaughter Megan Rowe, CNA
