Oneida Ann Hill, 88, passed away on October 31, 2021. She was born on January 4, 1933, in Beals, Kentucky to Herman Meredith Sr., and Stella (Simms) Meredith.
Oneida is a woman who can be called a true servant. She was a caregiver for many years and helped many who were homeless when she could. She had a compassionate, big heart who loved to help others. She was always reliable, and you could count on her for anything. Oneida did enjoy the outdoors and working in her yard. She had Christian faith, and for a time, attended the Church of God in Evansville. She had a beautifully infectious laugh that she shared so many times with her very large family. Oneida loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.
Oneida is survived by her children, Roxie (Eddie) Cheney, Melody Hollander, Leada Wagner, Doneida Sims, and Clayton Hill; her siblings, Judy (Ray) Mason, Mike (Janet) Meredith, and Joyce Meredith; and numerous, loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Oneida is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Stella Meredith; her daughters, Sandy Goings and Sonia Schlimmer; her sister, Stella Ellis; her brothers, Herman Meredith Jr., William Meredith, Joe Meredith, David Meredith, and Kenneth Meredith; and longtime friends, Bob Hill and Don Kaiser.
Sunset Funeral Home will be hosting services for Oneida on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021. Visitation hours will begin at 11:00am with the service to immediately follow at 1:00pm.
