Melvin Eugene Long, 80, went home to be with the Lord on September 12, 2020. He was born on May 13, 1940 to Paul L. Long and Dorothy Pauline Salesman in Jasonville, Indiana.
Melvin was in the trucking business for most of his life. He owned his own company Grace Transport Inc. and Cutler Logistics. Melvin loved to collect motorcycles. At one time he owned over 40 of them. He also enjoyed racing motorcycles when he was younger. Melvin loved spending time with his family and friends. Melvin loved the Lord and had such a strong faith. He was a member of Lifeway Baptist Church in Ellettsville for over 30 years.
Melvin is survived by his wife of 58 years Julia Long; his children Mike (Julie) Long, Scott (Sara) Long, and Vicki McQueen; his grandchildren Courtney (Matt) Marx, Cody (Chloe) Long, Colby (Reva) Long, Samantha (Nate) Reynolds-Long, Jared (Courtney) Long, Jessica (Josh) Sisk, Tommy (Kyla) McQueen, Zack (Sara) McQueen, and Ali McQueen; his great-grandchildren Adam Marx, Daniel Marx, Emily Marx, James Long, Julia Long, Jaxon Reynolds, Rowan Long, Rayleigh Sisk, Zaden McQueen, Mason McQueen, and Ryder McQueen; his sister Ellen Wood; and his nieces and nephews Sherri, Terri, Gayle, Bryon, and Kyle.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Marvin Long.
A memorial service will be announced at a later time.
