Leticia “Letty” Pollard, 95, passed away March 12, 2022, at Deaconess Gateway hospital,
surrounded by the love of her children and grandchildren. She was born on February 21, 1927,
to Rogelio and Nicolasa Polo Gonzalez in the Republic of Panama.

Leticia graduated from La Escuela Profesional in 1944 and continued her studies receiving her
accounting degree from the University of Panama in 1946. She worked for Banco Nacional and
as a personal administrator at the hospital in La Chorrera. In the early 1950’s she worked in the
Canal Zone where she met and married her husband Floyd Deon Pollard. Together they
traveled the world bringing up four Air Force brats, instructing them, among other life lessons, in
proper dress and etiquette for air travel and living abroad.

Though a fifty-one-year resident of Evansville and Fairfield, Illinois, Letty was a world traveler.
While dwelling in the Philippines and Germany, she traveled to Japan, Hong Kong, and made
pilgrimages to her homeland of Panama.

Leticia was involved in many charitable organizations. In the early years of the Vietnam War,
while living in the Philippines with her husband and family, she volunteered for the American
Red Cross as a Gray Lady at Pamganga Clark Air Force Base Hospital. During her time living in
Fairfield she was an active fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Hospital, American Cancer Society
and a member of Gamma Chi Sorority.

She enjoyed gardening, art, music, shopping, Facebook, and collecting voluminous amounts of
recipes. She was unfailing in gifting numerous household appliances, jewelry and knick knacks
to her offspring. She was also a possessor of strongly held and freely shared political opinions,
an epically fiery temper, and an inexhaustible reserve of indulgence for her grand and great
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Floyd Deon Pollard. She is survived by her
four children, Carlos (Emily) Pollard of Evansville, Indiana; Lourdes (Howard) Woods of
Evansville, Indiana; William Roger Pollard formerly of Fairfield, IL; Nicole (Timothy) Pollard –
Stephens of Evasville, Indiana. Grandchildren, James Pollard, Diana Pollard, Roger Deon
Pollard, Olivia Pollard, Roxanne Stephens; and great grandchildren, Luke Pollard,Willem
Pollard, Stella Pollard.

The family wishes to extend gratitude to Evansville Deaconess Gateway Nursing staff A500
tower and Dr. Murillo for their patience, dedication and kindness during Mother’s journey home.
As per Letty’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held.  In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society
and St Jude Children’s Hospital.
