    I remember sweet Karen from my time in Evansville many years ago. My sympathies to her family on her passing. She is in Heaven now!

Karen Connelly, 71, passed away on April 13, 2023. She was born on May 27, 1951, to Roy Edward Bandy and Wanda June Young in Evansville, Indiana.

Karen absolutely adored her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed writing poetry in her spare time. She loved playing Bingo Blitz on Facebook. She was notorious for being correct and “the point is” or “the fact of the matter” being her famous one-liners. Karen loved singing and listening to music, her favorite artist being Patsy Cline. Karen was a joy to be around and would light up every room she entered.

Karen is survived by the love of her life and best friend of 47 years James Connelly Sr.; daughters Monica Connelly (Jeremy Sparks), Keleigh (Ryan) Smith, James Richard Connelly Jr.; siblings Alvin (Dona) Bandy, John Young Jr., Carol (David) Goodman; grandchildren Mitchell (Katelynn) Weil, James (Alyssa) Simms, Thomas (Chloe) Reed, Christian Sparks, Serena Sparks; honorary grandchildren Zach Kanizar, Tiffany Hastie, Dayton Wallace; great-grandchildren Aubree Reed, Quintin Wallace, Solstice Weil, Lakelynn Simms, Penellope Reed; nephew Jackson Young; best friend Carolyn Jones; many extended family and friends.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents John Marvin Young Sr. and Wanda Young; brother Steven Lee Young; son-in-law Jeremy Sparks.

Visitation will be from 12pm until the time of service at 2pm on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel of Peace.
