Helen B. Hampton, 79, of Evansville, IN, passed away on December 1st, 2021. She was born on September 26th, 1942, to Joseph and Doris Merritt in Equality, Illinois.
Helen served the community as a Caregiver at the State Hospital for 45+ years. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Thomas Hampton, for over 40 years. Helen loved cats, crafting, gardening, and puzzles. For many years, she also made ceramics. She was a godly woman, regularly attending church and bible studies at Church of the Cross. Helen adored her family and loved spending time with them.
She is preceded in death by her son, Kevin Newcom; her sister, Carolyn Harvey; and her parents, Joseph and Doris Merritt.
Helen is survived by her son, Mark (Lori) Hampton; her grandchildren, Brittany (John) Burriss, Rocky (Tommi) Burriss, Andy (Jennifer) Burriss, and Aaron Hampton; her great-grandchildren Karma Liberman, Braydin Burriss, Trinity Mayse, Zayden Williams, Kaydence Williams, Haylee Burriss, Jasper Burriss, Keith Burriss, Chauna Thompson, Ashlynn Thompson, and McKenzi (Michael) Welborn; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Church of the Cross at 7525 N. Green River Rd., Evansville, IN 47725.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 8th, 2021 from 4 PM to 8 PM in the Chapel at Sunset Funeral Home, with Funeral Services to follow on Thursday, December 9th, 2021 at 11 AM. Please call Sunset Funeral Home for Zoom streaming information.
