Betty Joyce McCalister, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 9, 2020, at Hamilton Pointe Health and Rehabilitation.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Arnold Dale McCalister, her parents, Herman and Gracie (Sisk) Donahoo, her daughter, Joyce Bendrick of Norman, OK, brother, Doris Donahoo, and sister, Helen Oakley.

Betty is survived by her children Cinda Stonecipher, Tim (Linda) McCalister, and Stephen (Gina) McCalister. She was the grandmother of five grandchildren, Tobin (Charissa) Perry, Kyle McCalister, Kelli (Doug) White, Kristopher McCalister, and Jacob (Kaylynn) McCalister. She also had six great grandchildren and two nieces, Jeanie Sobeck and Gayle Clark.

Betty worked in retail for over 25 years, serving the customers of Sears and Roebuck, Service Merchandise, and Osco. While working, she grew to love anything that was Betty Boop themed. She was one of the very first members of the Washington Avenue Baptist Church, where she helped in the nursery with the babies. She loved reading her bible and singing at church. Betty really cherished the time she had with her family, especially her phone calls with her grandson, Kyle. She enjoyed Sunday dinners which were always a joyous occasion for the family to get together. She was an amazing and wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend.

Betty’s family wants to extend a very special and heartwarming thanks to Barbara Prowl. “Thank you so much for your faithful weekly visits. It has meant so much to us.”

Services will be held on May 13, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home. Public visitation will be from 10a.m. to 2p.m. and the funeral service starting at 2p.m. with the entombment to follow.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s.
