Aline Jean Dockery, 95, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Riverbend Nursing and Rehabilitation. Aline was born on April 30th, 1928, to the late Edward H. Walters and Cecelia (Scheller) Walters in Evansville, Indiana.

Aline was married to Elmo D. Dockery for 54 years until his death on January 1, 2000. Aline was also preceded in death by her siblings, brother Jerome Walters, sisters Marry Ann Waggoner, Evelyn Dix, and Martha Walters.

Aline is survived by her daughter Pam Westernberger, grandchildren Melissa and Derek, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Aline gave her heart to her Lord and Savior as a young married woman and spent her life as a teacher. She loved teaching children through Child Evangelism, Sunday School, and as an adult ladies’ Sunday School teacher. All of her Christian life was spent at Westwood General Baptist Church (formerly 12th Ave Baptist.)

Aline lived a very frugal life for herself except when it came to things close to her heart. She gave generously to Samaritans Purse – Back to the Bible – Billy Graham – Israel Today, her church, and her family.

Aline worked at The Cigar Factory in her younger years in her later years worked at EVSC as a bus aide on a special education bus.

The family would like to thank Pinehaven/Riverbend Nursing and Rehabilitation and Heritage Hospice for her care. Also thank you to her church family for all the visits and cards she received over her last years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Westwood General Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 11am until the time of service at 12pm on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home with a burial to directly follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
