What Green Burial Means

Conventional burial uses a concrete vault, a sealed casket, and synthetic materials that keep the body separated from the soil. Green burial leaves those out. A biodegradable casket or a simple shroud lets the body return to the earth naturally over time.

Embalming is your choice. If your family would like a visitation and a service beforehand, we offer environmentally friendly embalming that avoids the harsh chemicals used in conventional preparation. If you’d rather skip it entirely, that works too.

Our Green Burial Section

Sunset’s green burial section is tucked away near our Community Cremation and Butterfly Gardens, and you reach the area by a small wooden bridge. It’s a quiet, natural setting, set a little apart — a peaceful place to visit.

You’re welcome to walk the section and see it for yourself before you decide. Our staff can show you around and answer any questions.
